An international manhunt is underway for a suspect wanted for sexually assaulting a woman in a Green Bay alley. Jimmy Choumemany, 28, is believed to be hiding somewhere in Asia. Green Bay police are working with international authorities to find him. Rick Belanger.
Choumemany is wanted for a July 22 sex assault in downtown Green Bay. Belanger says. That's got to be the scariest thing for any person to go through. Cameras in the area captured a man on a bicycle. Police posted the images on Facebook and relatives were able to identify the man as Jimmy Choumemany. A relative told police that he has seen Coumemany act strangely around women in the past. The stranger assault caught the attention of the FBI and U.
They agreed to help track him. They enlisted the help of Interpol. It may be the first case in which Green Bay Police have worked with Interpol.
Belanger worries Choumemany has other victims. They're looking closely at open assault cases. Belanger says Choumemany fits the description of a home invasion suspect. In May, a woman woke up in her Division Street home to a man touching her stomach.
She screamed and the intruder ran. Police worried the man's crimes could escalate. Belanger says police have tracked where Choumemany has come in and out of the United States over the last 13 years. They are asking police in those cities to check their cases. If Choumemany is found, it will be a lengthy process to get him back to Wisconsin.
